Meet Sam Rodriguez
Sam Rodriguez is a percussionist/drummer from Chicago. He is an active musician who performs and teaches various percussion instruments, including congas, drum sets, bongos, timbales, djembe, cajon, and other percussion instruments.
Sam is involved in several original music projects as well as being an avid performer in the festival and jobbing band circuits. He has played in numerous bands and with many artists over the years including Grammy winner the late Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker, John Ryan (Fireball – Pitbull – One Direction), and countless others. Sam has played in venues from The House of Blues and The Park West to clubs, festivals, and bars. He has performed on local and national TV and has also been featured on local and internet radio. He has experience in R&B, rock, pop, calypso, blues, fusion, Latin jazz, salsa, world, folk, classical, reggae, disco, percussion groups, dance ensembles, and a myriad of other musical genres.
In addition to being an active performer, Sam plays sessions at recording studios, puts on world percussion seminars, facilitates drum circles, and teaches private lessons. He has endorsements from companies such as Paiste Cymbals, Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets, and Mike Balter Mallets.
